About

A vivid blue body with a black pattern shaped like a painter’s palette, and a yellow tail. It became famous as the forgetful sidekick of an animated movie.

Like other surgeonfishes, it has a sharp, scalpel-like spine at the base of its tail. When threatened, it darts into branching coral and wedges itself in sideways.

In Fish Around

It rows with its pectoral fins, glides smoothly in a straight line, and every few seconds makes a quick turn — the classic surgeonfish style.
